Spiral Staircase.jpg

The Spiral Staircase (1942): Ridiculous, preposterous, and thoroughly entertaining. A young Dorothy McGuire is a traumatized mute stalked by a serial killer in the early 1900s. Ethel Barrymore mugs it up as a bedridden invalid, warning the girl of her imminent danger. A good late-night change of pace for tweens.
