Kick-Back Friday: #202
In the Loop (2009): Yowzah. A gnashing, ripping, gnawing political satire from native Scotsman Armando Ianucci* and three British wags. Think Aaron Sorkin, but funny and possibly smarter. Deputy-level politicians and their young, ruthless aides from the UK and Washington consort to either promote or stall (or both?) an invasion of a Middle Eastern country. It’s a mad, mad, mad, mad world of absurd protocol and pure self-interest, culminating at the Big W of the United Nations and abundantly expressed with every nasty 4-letter word or hilarious variation thereof. Fuckity bye.
* Dad must’ve been Italian?
