Being Civil When Being Mortal Is Imminent
My review of Atul Gawande’s Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End is available in the latest issue of the Journal of the American Medical Writers’ Association (pages 73 and 75). In addition, this issue contains a review of my book, Elixir: The American Tragedy of a Deadly Drug (page 72).
A native East Tennessean, Barbara Martin is a formerly practicing, board-certified neurologist who received her BS (psychology, summa cum laude) and MD from Duke University before completing her postgraduate training (internship, residency, fellowship) at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She has worked in academia, private practice, medical publishing, drug market research, and continuing medical education (CME).
